Availability of websites and online transactional platforms is vital to online retailers during the holiday season. Despite the significance, many major players in e-commerce continue to overlook a critical aspect of maintaining website performance - their domain name system (DNS). Research commissioned by FreeYourID analyzed the DNS availability of the "Internet Retailer Top 500" sites during the 2011 holiday season and found room for improvement among many.
